On the north side of Hope Valley there is a ridge of low hills including Mam Tor, Back Tor and Lose Hill, which are also excellent places for a walk, and beyond this lies Edale - the starting point of the Pennine Way - and Kinder Scout, which is one of the finest of the gritstone moorlands for which the Peak District is famous.There are also many historic houses within easy reach of the Hotel, including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Lyme Hall and Park and Hardwick Hall. For golf fans, Sickleholme Golf Course is just a few minutes' drive away and offers an excellent 18 holes. Alternatively, Ladybower Reservoir is a great location for trout fishing and is only 10 minutes from the Hotel. For family fun, Alton Towers, Britain's premier theme park is little over an hour away by car, whilst the many attractions of the Matlock area (such as Gulliver's Kingdom and the Heights of Abraham) are closer still.

Hathersage Rail Station is a 5 minute taxi ride from the Hotel and features regular trains to Sheffield where travellers can take advantage of excellent transport links to the rest of the UK. For those flying in, Manchester Airport is an hour's drive away, whilst it is approximately 75 minutes to East Midlands Airport.
